CGICs are an interagency collaboration focused on the immediate collection, management, and analysis of crime gun evidence, such as shell casings, in real-time, to identify shooters, disrupt criminal activity, and to prevent future violence. CGICs rely on an ongoing collaboration between the ATF, local police department, the local crime laboratory, probation and parole, local police gang units, prosecuting attorneys, U.S. Attorney’s Office, crime analysts, community groups, and academic organizations.

The North Florida HIDTA Management & Coordination (M&C) initiative is a cooperative partnership of local law enforcement agency members and contractors. The M&C initiative, currently headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, was first designated in 2001 and oversees all North Florida HIDTA initiatives operating within its 13-county area of responsibility (AOR).
Members of the M&C initiative work in conjunction with the Executive Board and the Oversight, Finance, and Training committees monitoring the progress of the North Florida HIDTA initiatives throughout the year to ensure performance targets are being met. The M&C initiative oversees all aspects of the HIDTA’s activities, including (but not limited to):
The M&C initiative also supports other activities as directed by the Executive Board, consistent with all applicable HIDTA policies and guidelines.
The Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) is an initiative designed to enhance public health public safety collaboration and to strengthen and improve efforts to reduce drug overdoses within 21 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTAs) across 34 states.
With support from the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the ORS initiative supports innovation at the local, state, and regional level.
The mission of the ORS is to reduce fatal and non-fatal drug overdose rates by improving information sharing across agencies and supporting evidence-based interventions. The four strategic directions that shape the boundaries of the ORS are: law enforcement, response, treatment and recovery, and prevention.
